Anime Coming to Netflix in 2021 (2023)

Each passing year, the quality of anime on Netflix gets better, and the number of anime titles arriving continues to grow. Twenty-twenty has been a stacked year so far, and 2021 is already beginning to take shape as another excellent year for anime on Netflix. We’ll be keeping track of all of the latest announcements and upcoming anime coming to Netflix in 2021.

Here are the anime series coming to Netflix in 2021:

Beastars (Season 2) N

Netflix Release Date: July 15th, 2021
Studio: Orange | Episodes: 12

Beastars set the anime community alight upon its release in late 2019 and has since become one of the most popular series to be streamed on Netflix. Continuing to be aired in Japan, once the series has finished its broadcast, fans can look forward to the series return to Netflix in July 2021.

At Cherryton Academy, Legosi, a large but timid and quiet wolf is a member of the school’s drama club, working as a stagehand. The club is run by the star pupil Louis, a red deer. After the death and devouring of a student, the alpaca Tem, a wave of distrust rocks the school as the herbivores and carnivores are at odds. To make life even more complicated for Legosi, he has a fateful encounter with the dwarf rabbit Haru and soon develops very complicated feelings for her.

A charming slice-of-life anime that’s sure to leave a lot of smiles on subscriber’s faces.

Cherry, a Japanese high schooler who is terrible at communicating with others hides behind his headphones and his hobby of writing Japanese haiku poems. Smile, a young girl who uses braces for her large teeth hides her smile behind a mask, but that hasn’t stopped her from becoming a popular video star after streaming a video about cuteness. When the pair meet at a mundane shopping mall, through music, videos, and poems a cute romance begins.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation (Season 1) N

Netflix Release Date: July 23rd, 2021
Studio: Powerhouse Animation | Episodes: 10

The exciting new Masters of the Universe series is a direct sequel to the classic 80s animated show and is directed by Kevin Smith. Powerhouse Animation is the studio behind the series, which is the same company that produced Netflix’s incredible animated series Castlevania.

Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Kingdom (Season 3) N

Netflix Release Date: July 29th, 2021
Studio: Polygon Pictures | Episodes: 6

The Predacons and Maximals join the fight as the Autobots face Megatron an epic climactic battle that will alter the destiny of Transformers forever.

Shaman King (Season 1) N

Studio: Bridge | Episodes: 13

In total there are over 50 episodes planned for Shaman King, so subscribers can look forward to even more Shaman King in the near future.

Manta Oyamada, a seemingly average middle school student, is revealed to the power to see spirits. Upon a fateful encounter where his powers are revealed, Oyamada is enlisted into helping You Asakura, a shaman-in-training, who has the goal of becoming the Shaman King. But in order to become the next Shaman King, Asakura must take part in the Shaman Fight, a legendary tournament that pits the world’s strongest shamans against each other in order to determine who will become king.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (2021) N

Netflix’s incredibly exciting upcoming animated movie set in the world of The Witcher acts as a prequel to Geralt’s story and explores the origins of his mentor and fellow witcher Vesemir.

Edens Zero (Season 1) N

Netflix Release Date: August 26th, 2021
Studio: J.C. Stad| Episodes: 25

If Edens Zero looks familiar, then that’s because it comes from the creator of Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima. It comes as a huge surprise that Netflix was able to acquire the global rights to the anime series, but without a doubt, it’ll be a great addition to Netflix’s growing library of anime content.

In the Granbell Kingdom, inside of an abandoned amusement park, the young boy Shiki has lived his entire life amongst the machines and animatronics. Unbeknownst to Rebecca, and her cat companion Happy, who are exploring the park, they are the first human contact that Shiki has had in a hundred years. When Shiki’s home becomes the center of a robotic rebellion, it becomes too dangerous for him to stay, so he joins Rebecca and Happy in their spaceship as they travel the cosmos.

Baki Hanma (Season 1) N

The series can be treated as part four for the Original Baki series already available to stream on Netflix. But, judging by the press release made by TMS Entertainment, it looks like the animation team is going all out to give us an epic finale to the Baki Hanma storyline.

In the grand finale, Baki Hanma will finally face his father in deadly combat to determine who is the strongest martial artist in the world.

Spriggan (Season 1) N

Fans of Spriggan have been waiting many years to see a new adaptation of the popular 80s manga. The last time Spriggan received an anime adaptation was in 1998, and a subsequent PlayStation video game was released in 1999. With the series set to arrive in 2021, fans have been rewarded for their patience.

Many years ago an ancient civilization once ruled the Earth but ultimately destroyed themselves. Leaving messages to future generations to find, they detail how to use the powerful creations they used. Various factions begin to search for mysterious artifacts in the order to use them against their enemies. Standing in their way is the ARCAM Corporation and their elite squadron of soldiers known as Spriggans.

Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure

The cutest stop motion Bear from Japan is coming back to Netflix in 2021! This time Rilakkuma, and his companions will be going to an amusement park after dark. With a spooky-sounding setting, we could see Rilakkuma return to Netflix just in time for Halloween 2021.

Thermae Romae Novae

Super Crooks (Season 1) N

Jupiter’s Legacy has been cancelled, but fans of the Millarworld comics can still look forward to the upcoming release of Super Crooks, which is to be animated by Bones.

Ultraman (Season 2) N

It was confirmed in June 2019 that we were going to see the second season of Ultraman on Netflix. It’s been a long time since the announcement and we’re yet to see season 2 on Netflix, which means 2021 is when the fabled Japanese hero is likely to return.

Many years have passed since the events of the originalUltraman. Now perceived as a memory the legendary ‘Giant of Light’ is believed to have left earth and returned to his home planet. Shinjiro Hayata discovers that his father was the Ultraman. Taking the mantle from his father Shinjiro becomes the new Ultraman of the earth.
